The book under review is a scientific autobiography of the author, a specialist in the field of logic and the theory of computation (working mainly in the field of degrees of unsolvability), chairman of the Chair of Algebra and Mathematical Logic of the University of Kazan. The book consists of 11 chapters devoted to the author's childhood, his activities at the University of Kazan and his three scientific stays in the USA. One finds there also remarks on the development of mathematics at the University of Kazan as well as a chapter devoted to famous mathematical problems. The book is closed by a chapter on the main stages of the development of mathematics in Russia until the 19th century. A detailed index of names (with explanations and biographical comments) is included.
