The authors introduce the notion of an augmented birack \((X,G)\), which describes a birack structure on a set \(X\) by using a group acting on \(G\). Using this reformulation of birack structure, they succeeded in introducing a cohomology theory for augmented biracks in a combinatorial way, like a cohomology theory of quandles.NEWLINENEWLINEThey also define a notion of degenerate \(N\)-chains, a generalization of the corresponding notion in quandle and rack homology, and show that this cohomology theory of augmented biracks provides a cocycle invariant of (non-framed) virtual links, in a similar way as a usual quandle or rack cocycle invariant.
