The authors are concerned with the convergence of the multigrid algorithm for hybrid discontinuous Galerkin methods (HDG for short). They carry out numerical solutions to a homogeneous Dirichlet problem attached to a linear elliptic equation in a divergence form. Independently, they provide an error analysis of the HDG methods and determine the condition number of the unpreconditioned HDG matrix system. Some numerical experiments are conducted in order to verify the theoretical results.
