Adaptive discontinuous Galerkin methods for nonstationary convection-diffusion problems (Q2930147)

This work is concerned with the derivation of a robust a posteriori error estimator for a discontinuous Galerkin method discretization of a linear nonstationary convection-diffusion problem and with the implementation of a corresponding adaptive algorithm. The paper is organized as follows: Section 1 is an introduction. The function space setting and the model problem are given in Section 2. Section 3 describes the discretization of the problem. An a posteriori error bound for the stationary elliptic problem is stated in Section 4. Sections 5 and 6 contain the derivation of the a posteriori bounds for the nonstationary convection-diffusion model problem. Section 7 describes a space-time adaptive algorithm. Numerical experiments are presented in Section 8 and final conclusions are drawn in Section 9.
