Let \(f\) be a \(C^2\) diffeomorphism of the \(n\)-dimensional torus outside a nondegenerate critical set (i.e., the set where \(\det Df(x)=0\)) that is a nonuniformly expanding map whose orbits have slow recurrence to the critical set. It follows from results of \textit{J. F. Alves} et al. [Invent. Math. 140, No. 2, 351--398 (2000; Zbl 0962.37012)] that there exists a finite number of \(f\)-invariant, absolutely continuous, ergodic (physical) measures \(\mu_1,\dots,\mu_p\) whose basins cover a set of full measure.NEWLINENEWLINEThe authors consider special additive random perturbations of \(f\) with noise of level \(\varepsilon\) and give conditions under which \(f\) is stochastically stable under such perturbations, i.e., any weak\(^*\) accumulation point (as \(\varepsilon\to 0\)) of families of stationary measures of the perturbations belongs to the convex hull of \(\{\mu_1,\dots,\mu_p\}\).
