    A space \((X,d,\mu)\) of homogeneous type in the sense of Coifman and Weiss is called an RD-space if \(X\) has the additional property that a reverse doubling property holds in \(X\). Let \(\beta \geq 0\) and \(w\) be a weight. A function \(f \in L^1_{\mathrm{loc}}(X)\) is said to be in the space \(\mathrm{BMO}^{\beta}(X,w)\) if \[ \| f\|_{\mathrm{BMO}^{\beta}(X,\;w)}= \sup_{B}\biggl(\frac{1}{\mu(B)^{\beta}w(B)}\int_{B}|f(y)-f_{B}|d\mu(y)\biggr) < \infty, \] where \(w(B)=\int_{B}w\;d\mu\), \(f_{B}=\frac{1}{\mu(B)}\int_{B}f \;d\mu\), and the supremum is taken over all balls \(B\) in \(X\). A positive function \(\rho\) on \(X\) is said to be admissible if there exist positive constants \(C\) and \(k\) such that for all \(x,y \in X\), \[ \frac{1}{\rho(x)}\;\leq \frac{C}{\rho(y)}\biggl(1+\frac{d(x,\;y)}{\rho(y)}\biggr)^{k}. \] Let \(\rho\) be an admissible function on an RD-space \(X\). For \(\beta \geq 0\) and a Muckenhoupt weight \(w \in A_{\infty}\), a function \(f \in L^{1}_{\mathrm{loc}}(X)\) is said to be in the space \(\mathrm{BMO}^{\beta}_{\rho}(X,\;w)\) if \[ \begin{aligned} \| f\|_{\mathrm{BMO}^{\beta}_{\rho}(X,\;w)} & =\sup_{B \in \mathbf{B}}\biggl(\frac{1}{\mu(B)^{\beta}w(B)}\int_{B}|f(y)-f_{B}|d\mu(y)\biggr)\\ & +\sup_{B \notin \mathbf{B}}\biggl(\frac{1}{\mu(B)^{\beta}w(B)}\int_{B}|f(y)|d\mu(y)\biggr)< \infty,\end{aligned} \] where \({\mathbf B}= \{B(x,r)\;\subset X: x \in X,\;r < \rho(x) \}\). The main aim of this paper is to establish the theory of the weighted bounded mean oscillation (BMO) type spaces \(\mathrm{BMO}^{\beta}(X,\;w)\) and \(\mathrm{BMO}^{\beta}_{\rho}(X,\;w)\), and their basic properties including the John-Nirenberg inequality for these spaces. As applications, the authors also study the boundedness of some singular integrals such as the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operators, the radial maximal functions, the Poisson semigroup maximal functions, the Littlewood-Palery \(g\)-functions and fractional integral operators on these weighted BMO type spaces.
