Determination of a time-dependent term in the right-hand side of linear parabolic equations (Q300669)

The paper presents an unsteady parabolic problem with time-dependent unknown right hand side which may be treated as heat source. A variational formulation is casted which is discretized. The gradient of the discretized functional is derived followed by the conjugate gradient method to solve it. Several test cases in one- and two-dimensional spaces are illustrated to establish the efficiency of the method. Some theorems are also stated and proved during the development of the numerical scheme.
