The authors study the stochastic magnetohydrodynamic equations in three-dimensional space, forced by a multiplicative noise. They prove a local-in-time existence and uniqueness result for solutions of the associated initial value problem under some growth and smoothness condition for the random forcing terms. Additionally, global solutions are shown to exist in probability if the initial data are sufficiently small. Proofs are based on fixed-point arguments and energy estimates. Editorial remark: According to the retraction note [ibid. Math. Ann. 375, No. 1--2, 921 (2019; Zbl 1447.35279)], the authors ``have retracted their article [Math. Ann. 365, No. 3--4, 1219--1256 (2016; Zbl 1379.35254)] because the article shows significant overlap with a previously published article [\textit{J. U. Kim}, Indiana Univ. Math. J. 59, No. 4, 1417--1450 (2010; Zbl 1226.35088)]. All authors agree to this retraction.''
