Virtual singular braids and links (Q304495)

Virtual braids were investigated in [\textit{L. H. Kauffman} and \textit{S. Lambropoulou}, Fundam. Math. 184, 159--186 (2004; Zbl 1068.57006)] in which an algorithm was given to represent a virtual link as the closure of a virtual braid. In [\textit{B. Gemein}, J. Knot Theory Ramifications 6, No. 4, 441--454 (1997; Zbl 0885.57005)], singular braids were studied and a Markov-type theorem was proved. In the paper under review the authors investigate virtual singular braids (VSB) as generalizations of virtual braids and singular braids. They prove Alexander and Markov theorems and give a reduced presentation for \(\mathrm{VSB}_n\) with fewer generators.
