The main object of this interesting book is to study for various spaces of analytic functions on the disk (as for example generalized Hardy, BMO and Bergman spaces) the Taylor coefficients of their elements and to describe the coefficient multipliers. Recall that if \(f,g\in H(\mathbb D)\), \(f(z)=\sum_{n=0}^\infty \hat f_nz^n\) and \(g(z)=\sum_{n=0}^\infty \hat g_nz^n\), then the Hadamard product \(f*g\) is the series \(\sum_{n=0}^\infty \hat f_n\hat g_nz^n\). This product can formally be extended to the set \(\mathbb C^\mathbb N\) of all sequences. If \(X\) and \(Y\) are subspaces of \(H(\mathbb D)\), then some \(\lambda\in \mathbb C^\mathbb N\) is a coefficient multiplier for the pair \((X,Y)\) if for every \(f\in X\) the Hadamard product \(\lambda * f\in Y\). After reviewing several older results in this setting (as presented for example in [\textit{P. L. Duren}, Theory of \(H^ p\) spaces. New York and London: Academic Press (1970; Zbl 0215.20203)]), the authors focus their work on subsequent results and a give a systematic overview of the field in a unified way. Due to the intimate connection of the coefficient multipliers with duality, the authors also determine for various function spaces the topological duals. In the study of the Taylor coefficients of generalized \(H^p\)-functions, lacunary Taylor series also play an important role. Unfortunately, some subjects in the field are only mentioned very briefly; for example the study of the Taylor coefficients of inner functions. The theme of boundary convergence of Taylor series is not addressed; it would have been nice to have included material of the form: do there exist \(H^p\)-functions \(f\), \(1\leq p<2\), \(f\notin H^2\), whose Taylor series converge everywhere on the boundary. Although the authors make frequently use of the asymptotic behaviour (Fejér's formula) of the Taylor coefficients (=generalized Laguerre functions) of the function \[ \displaystyle\frac{e^{-bz(1-z)^{-1}}}{(1-z)^{\alpha+1}}=\sum_{n=0}^\infty L_n^{(\alpha)}(b)z^n, \] they do not give a proof of this. A missed opportunity, I think.
