Let CP be the class of piecewise continuous and bounded functions on \([0,\infty)\). The following upper and lower integral means are considered for \(a\in\mathrm{CP}\): \[ \overline{\overline{a}}=\limsup_{{s,t\to\infty}\atop{t-s\to\infty}}\,m(a;s,t),\qquad \underline{\underline{a}}=\liminf_{{s,t\to\infty}\atop{t-s\to\infty}}\,m(a;s,t), \] where \(m(a;s,t)(t-s)=\int_s^ta\). In his previous works [Vestn. Beloruss. Gos. Univ. Im. V. I. Lenina, Ser. I 1992, No. 1, 44--48 (1992; Zbl 0768.34029); \textit{E. A. Barabanov} and the author, Differ. Equations 30, No. 10, 1536--1545 (1994); translation from Differ. Uravn. 30, No. 10, 1665--1676 (1994; Zbl 0852.34050)], the author proved the following result: Assume, that \(a\) is bounded and a sequence \(\delta_k\nearrow\infty\) fulfils \(\delta_{k+1}-\delta_k\to\infty\), \(k\to\infty\). Then, in the formulae for \(\overline{\overline{a}}\) and \(\underline{\underline{a}}\), one can require that the endpoints \(s\) and \(t\) belong both to the same \([\delta_k,\delta_{k+1}]\). The present article brings a slight enhancement to that result. It is proved that the claim holds also for unbounded \(a\in\mathrm{CP}\), provided that \(\overline{\overline{a}}<\infty\) and \(\underline{\underline{a}}>-\infty\), respectively.
