This paper studies the Cauchy problem for the two-component Degasperis-Procesi system. This type of system arises as a model for nonlinear shallow water dynamics. The goal of this paper is to study the infinite propagation property of the solution to such system with initial compact support as it evolves over time. The authors proves that the first component of the solution with initial compact support has an infinite propagation speed in the sense that it instantaneously loses its compact support, while the second component of the solution maintains the property of being compactly supported throughout its evolution. Another contribution of the paper is to investigate the asymptotic behaviors of the solution at infinity within its lifespan provided the initial data decay exponentially and algebraically.
