In this book, the authors provide an overview of the techniques central to lattice QCD, including modern developments. The book has four chapters. Chapter 1 describes Quantum Field Theory on the lattice where topics like brief history of quarks and gluons, classical fields and gauge invariance, renormalization group equations etc. are covered. The second chapter introduces Monte Carlo methods and details of numerical algorithms to simulate lattice gauge fields. Here Markov Chain Monte Carlo and Hybrid Monte Carlo are discussed. The third chapter explains the mathematical and numerical techniques needed to study quark fields and the computation of quark propagators. The topics covered are Wick contractions, sparse linear algebra, fermion determinant and all-to-all quark propagators. The fourth chapter is devoted to the physical observables constructed from lattice fields and explains how to measure them in simulations. The notational conventions are given in an Appendix.
