In this paper the following elliptic Navier type boundary value problem with variable exponent is considered \[ \begin{aligned} \Delta _{p(x)}^2u & =f(x,u(x)),\\ u(x) & =\Delta u(x)=0 \end{aligned} \] under assumption that \(\Omega\) is bounded and smooth domain in \(\mathbb R^N\), \(\Delta _{p(x)}^2u:=\Delta (|\Delta u|^{p(x) -2}\Delta u)\) is the fourth order \(p(x)\)-biharmonic operator and \(p\) is a continuos function with \( p^->\max\left\{ 2,\frac{N}{2}\right\} \). The function \(f\) is continuous and subject to such growth conditions which allow for obtaining at least one weak solution by the application of the Ricceri variational principle. Illustrative examples together with some comments and explanations which allow for deeper understanding of the method employed are given in the text. Some type of bifurcation results are also provided.
