The Haar system is one of the classical orthonormal systems defined on the interval \([0,1]\) with the Fourier-Haar coefficients denoted as \(\hat{\chi}_n(f)\). The aim of the paper is to discuss properties of the Fourier coefficients for certain classes of functions with respect to the Haar system as well as general orthonormal systems; in particular for the class \(Z_{\alpha}\), \(\alpha\in(0,2]\), of functions continuous on \((0,1)\) and satisfying certain growth conditions. The author provides two main results for the Haar system which generalize previous results of the same author. These include finding respective conditions on the parameters such that the series \(\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}|\Delta\hat{\chi}_n(f)|^{\beta}n^{\gamma}\) for \(f\in Z_{\alpha}\) converges on one hand while on the other hand, shows the existence of a function \(f\in Z_{\alpha}\) for which the series diverges. For the general orthonormal system, the author considers the class \(V(0,1)\) of functions with finite variation and derives a condition under which the Fourier series of such a function is absolutely summable a.e. on \([0,1]\) by the \((C,1)\) method. As an illustration for the validity of such a condition, the Walsh system and the Haar system itself are considered.
