The authors extend to the class of star shaped bodies the result of \textit{B.~Klartag} [Geom. Funct. Anal. 14, No. 6, 1322--1338 (2004; Zbl 1069.52004)] on the number of Minkowski symmetrizations needed to approximate the Euclidean ball starting from an arbitrary convex body.
