Consider the one dimensional discrete Schrödinger equation \[ \imath\dot{q}_n = -(q_{n+1}+q_{n-1} + V(\theta+n\omega)q_n\;,\;n\in \mathbb{Z} \eqno (1) \] in fact an infinite order system of ordinary differential equations arising from the discretization \textit{via} the method of lines of the Cauchy problem for the Schrödinger equation on \((-\infty,\infty)\). Here, \(V:T^d\mapsto R\) is real analytic in a neighborhood of the torus \(T^d=\{z\in \mathbb C^d:|\Im m\;z|<r\leq 1\}\) and \(\omega\in \mathbb R^d\) Diophantine, i.e. there exist \(\gamma>0\), \(\tau>d-1\) such that \[ \displaystyle{\inf_{j\in Z}\left|{\langle k,\omega\rangle \over 2}-j\pi\right| >{\gamma \over |k|^\tau}\; \forall k\in \mathbb Z^d\setminus\{0\}}. \] Consider the ``diffusion norm'' \[ \displaystyle{|q(t)|_D = \left(\sum_{n\in Z}n^2|q_n(t)|^2\right)^{1/2}} \] such that for \(q(0)\neq 0\), \(|q(0)|_D<\infty\). The main result of the paper reads as follows Theorem 1. Let \(q(t)\) be a solution to (1). There exists an \(\varepsilon_*(\gamma,\tau,r)\) such that if \(|V|_r=\varepsilon_0<\varepsilon_*\), then for any \(\theta\in T^d\) there is a constant \(0<C<3|q(0)|_{l^2(Z)}\) depending on \(\varepsilon_0\), \(\theta\) and \(q(0)\) such that for some numerical constant \(0<\zeta<1\) the following holds \[ \displaystyle{\liminf_{t\rightarrow\infty}\;t^{-1}|q(t)|_D\geq{C \over 1+\varepsilon_0^\zeta} \;,\;\limsup_{t\rightarrow\infty}\;t^{-1}|q(t)|_D\leq{C \over 1-\varepsilon_0^\zeta}}\text{ .} \]
