It is known that very general hypersurfaces of degree \(k\) in a complex projective space cannot contain curves of geometric genus which is small with respect to \(k\). In \(\mathbb P^5\), the case \(k=7\) is a boundary case: general heptic hypersurfaces \(W\subset\mathbb P^5\) contain a finite number (exactly \(698,005\)) lines and no other rational curves up to degree \(d= 16\). The author studies the existence of curves of small genus \(g>0\) on general heptic hypersurfaces \(W\) of \(\mathbb P^5\). He proves that smooth curves of positive genus \(g\leq 3\) and degree \(d\leq 16\) on \(W\) must span a space of dimension \(3\). Refining the analysis for \(g=1\), the author is then able to eclude the existence of smooth elliptic curves of degree \(d\leq 14\) on sufficiently general \(W\).
