The book can be considered to be a sequel to the author's recent work [Frontiers in approximation theory. Hackensack, NJ: World Scientific (2015; Zbl 1326.41001)]. Like its predecessor, it consists of a large number (in this case, 27) chapters that are essentially independent of each other, with a very little amount of interrelations. Once again, each of the chapters basically recalls the contents of one of the author's recent papers. Most chapters contain a more or less elementary generalization of a classical integral inequality (e.g. of Pólya-, Grüss-, Opial- or Ostrowski-type) to a multidimensional setting and/or a setting involving operators of fractional order. Basic concepts that occur in multiple chapters (such as, e.g. Riemann-Liouville integrals) are defined in each associated chapter, but not always using the same notation, cf., e.g. Equations (3.3) and (18.59); so there are many repetitions and various inconsistencies in the book. The subject index is rather incomplete.
