The paper deals with the problem of providing a constructive method for obtaining the optimal quasi-Banach envelope for a given cone of measurable functions. Here, ``optimal envelope'' must be understood as the minimal quasi-Banach ideal space that belongs to a given class and contains the cone. The classical approach to the definition of (quasi) Banach function space by means of function norms developed by Bennett and Sharpley's is the main reference, as well as some current generalizations that can be found in works of the authors and other researchers (mainly the next ones) [the authors, ``An optimal ideal space containing a given cone compatible with an order relation'', in: International conference modern methods and problems of operator theory and harmonic analysis and their applications. Rostov-on-Don. 20--21 (2015); ``A minimal ideal space containing a cone of nonnegative measurable functions'', in: International conference function spaces and the theory of approximation of functions. Moscow. p. 90 (2015)]. The Fatou property of the (generalized) function norm is always assumed. In Section 2, the main definition and some fundamental results are presented. The paper develops a general technique for creating optimal envelopes by means of nondegenerate operators. In Theorem 2.5, the minimal ideal space containing a given cone in which the quasinorm is consistent with a nondegenerate operator in characterized. In Theorem 2.6, the requirement on the original quasinorm to be consistent with some order relation (not necessarily the standard almost everywhere order) is added. Mixing some further requirements, some of them related to the Fatou property, a similar result is given in Theorem 2.10. Section 3 is devoted to the obtention of the results for cones of nonnegative decreasing functions. Section 4 shows the case of a cone of positive double monotone functions. More related results regarding order covering and order equivalence of cones are given in Section 5.
