This textbook deals with classical elasticity presented in a modern form. The authors analyze some problems from linear elasticity for bodies under concentrated loads, namely Kelvin, Boussinesq, Flamant, Cerruti, Melan, and Mindlin problems. The closed-form solutions are determined in terms of stress, strain and displacement fields. The book could be recommended to civil and mechanical engineers as well as to applied mathematicians.
