The sum of modules of Walsh coefficients of Boolean functions (Q341820)

Lower and upper bounds for the sum \(\sigma(f)\) of absolute values of Walsh coefficients of a Boolean function \(f\) are considered. The lower bound is achieved on affine functions and the upper bound is achieved on bent functions. The average value of \(\sigma(f)\) is evaluated in the class of all Boolean functions and its subclass of all balanced functions. Some classes of nonlinear balanced functions with \(\sigma(f)\) close to the obtained bounds are presented. The value of \(\sigma(f)\) is estimated for some classes of balanced functions obtained by Maiorana-McFarland and Dobbertin constructions.
