Dehornoy-like left orderings and isolated left orderings. (Q351401)

Although Dehornoy orderings of braid groups are the most natural left orderings of such, their algebraic properties are rather complicated. This paper introduces and investigates a class of Dehornoy-like orderings for finitely generated groups. Under a special assumption on an ordered finite generating set of a finitely generated group \(G\), a simple relationship is established between Dehornoy-like and isolated orderings of \(G\), and some properties of the Dehornoy ordering of the braid group \(B_n\) are generalised to Dehornoy-like ordering of a finitely generated group. A significant example of Dehornoy-like ordering is defined on the amalgamated free product of two infinite cyclic groups, and as a result, it is proved that such a class of groups admits isolated left orderings. Using properties of Dehornoy-like orderings, a left ordering is constructed which admits no non-trivial proper convex subgroups.
