Let \(C:\) \(f=0,\) \(f\in k[x,y],\) be a plane curve with only one place (branch) \(\gamma \) at infinity. S. S. Abhyankar and T. T. Moh (under some assumptions on \(k\)) proved important properties of the semi-group \(S_{C,\infty }\) of the unique branch of this curve at infinity (by definition it is the set of orders of elements of \(k[x,y]\) on \(\gamma \)). They found effectively generators of \(S_{C,\infty }\) and characteristic reations among these generators. The authors generalize these theorems to the general context of plane valuations at infinity. By definition they are \ valuations \( v:K\rightarrow G,\) where \(K\) is the quotient field of the local ring \( \mathcal{O}_{\mathbb{P}^{2}(k),p}\) of two-dimensional projective space over a perfect field \(k\) at \(p\in H_{\infty },\) which satisfy some conditions (generalizing the classical ones of Abhyankar and Moh). They prove an analoque of the Abhyankar-Moh Theorem for such valuations.
