      In [Mat. Contemp. 31, 1--12 (2006; Zbl 1168.53032)], \textit{J.-H. Eschenburg} introduced the notion of pluriminimal immersions, that is of immersions \(f: M^{2m} \longrightarrow \mathbb R^n\) of a Kähler manifold \(M^{2m}\) into \(\mathbb R^n\), which is isometric and pluriharmonic. It is a natural generalization of the classical notion of minimal surface in \(\mathbb R^3\).NEWLINENEWLINEIn this paper, the authors consider analogues of pluriminimal immersions for pseudo-Hermitian CR manifolds. Recall that a pseudo-Hermitian CR manifold is a quadruple \((M^{2n+1}, \mathcal D, J, \vartheta)\), formed by {\parindent=0.6cm\begin{itemize}\item[--] an odd-dimensional manifold \(M^{2n+1}\); \item[--] a contact distribution \( \mathcal D \subset TM\); \item[--] a smooth family of complex structures \(J_x: \mathcal D_x \to \mathcal D_x\) on the subspaces \( \mathcal D_x \subset T_x M\); \item[--] a contact 1-form \(\vartheta \in T^*M\) with \(\ker \vartheta_x = \mathcal D_x \) for all \(x \in M\), NEWLINENEWLINE\end{itemize}} which satisfies certain integrability conditions on \(J\) and such that the \((0,2)\)-tensor \(g^\vartheta = \vartheta \otimes \vartheta + d \vartheta(\cdot, J \cdot)|_{\mathcal D \times \mathcal D}\) is a Riemannian metric. A CR function on \(M^{2n+1}\) is a map \(f: M \to \mathbb C^n\), which satisfies the equation \(\overline Z(f) = 0\) for any \(J\)-holomorphic vector field \(Z = X - i J X \in \mathcal D^{1,0}\).NEWLINENEWLINEThe authors consider \(3\)-dimensional pseudo-Hermitian CR manifolds \(M^3\) and they call the isometric immersions \(f: (M^3, g^\theta) \longrightarrow \mathbb R^n\) CR-pluriharmonic isometric immersions, which are given by CR-pluriharmonic functions, viz. functions that locally are real parts of CR functions. They find a local integral representation of Weierstrass-type for such immersions and completely classify them for the case \(n = 4\).
