Existence results for periodic boundary value problems involving the relativistic operator are given based on Leray-Schauder degree theory, critical point theory and the method of lower and upper solutions. As applications, two examples are presented: the first one is the Brillouin beam-focusing type equation with relativistic effects, and the latter one is the Mathieu-Duffing equation with relativistic effects.
