The author gives a partial solution for Phillips' problem: does there exist a Moufang loop of odd order with trivial nucleus? In another paper [Commun. Algebra 41, No. 8, 3080-3089 (2013; Zbl 1280.20068)], the author proved that if a Moufang loop \(Q\) over the nucleus has nontrivial center, then the loop \(Q\) has nontrivial center, too. By using this result he shows that a Moufang loop of odd order with nontrivial commutant has nontrivial center. Introducing the concept of commutantly nilpotence for Moufang loops in case of odd order the author gets that the commutantly nilpotence is equivalent to central nilpotence. As a corollary the author gets a new proof for an old result, namely: Let \(Q\) be a commutative Moufang loop of odd order. Then \(Q\) is centrally nilpotent.
