A number of studies have been conducted regarding the spectral analysis of Sturm-Liouville and Schrödinger differential equations. In the present work, the authors consider a spectral function associated with a linear, second-order differential equation with given initial conditions. For a particular set of imposed conditions, they show that higher derivatives of the spectral function exist and are continuous. The derivatives are explicitly computed for some cases. The overview of spectral functions properties are provided in the cited literature, while rigorous detailed results are obtained by the authors who prove two theorems and a numbers of lemmas. Examples are provided when only one of the two theorems proven in this paper are satisfied.
