    In this paper the authors deal with the acoustic waves governed by the linearized compressible Navier-Stokes equations. The medium is supposed to be a perforated open set with tiny holes (porous medium). In the model problem there are two parameters \(\varepsilon\) and \(\beta\). The parameter \(\varepsilon\) is related to the periodicity of the holes and \(\beta\) is related to the viscous effect. With some conditions on the initial data and an appropriate description of the energy the authors get a characterization of the limit problem as \(\varepsilon\) goes to zero, using the two-scale expansion.
