The ultimate purpose of this paper is to provide a proof, in the formalism of model categories, that the algebraic K-theory represents motivic orientations of the derived motivic multiplicative group. The author also explains the proof of a topological counterpart, in the category of ordinary symmetric spectra of the stable homotopy theory, of this result.NEWLINENEWLINEIn a first step, the author studies the definition of model categories for algebras over operads in motivic symmetric spectra. He proves that the usual definition of the model category of algebras over an operad in symmetric spectra extends to the motivic setting. He uses the model category of algebras over an \(E_\infty\)-operad to prove an adjunction relation characterizing a derived version of the multiplicative group and he uses this result to establish the interpretation of the algebraic K-theory in terms of motivic orientations of the derived motivic multiplicative group.
