An inner jumping number of a pair \((X, D)\), where \(X\) is a nonsingular algebraic variety and \(D\) is an effective divisor, at a point \(x\) is a positive rational number \(\alpha\) such that the quotient \(\mathcal{K}_{\alpha, x}=\mathcal{J}((1-\varepsilon)\alpha D)/\mathcal{J}(\mathcal{O}_X(-D)^{(1-\varepsilon)\alpha}\cdot\mathfrak{m}_x^\delta)\neq 0\) for all \(0<\varepsilon\ll \delta\ll 1\). The dimension \(\dim \mathcal{K}_{\alpha, x}\) is called the inner jump multiplicity. Inner jumping numbers were introduced by Budur to measure complexity of singularities of \(D\). He showed that the inner jumping numbers of hypersurfaces coincide with the Hodge spectrum numbers in the interval \((0, 1]\). In the paper under review, the author provided an easy, effective and combinatorial method to compute the inner jumping numbers of non-degenerated polynomials. Let \(f\) be a polynomial of \(n\) variables such that \(f(0)=0\). Assume that \(f\) is non-degenerated with respect to its Newton polyhedron \(P\). A number \(\alpha\in \mathbb{Q}\cap (0, 1)\) is a jumping number of \(f\) at the origin if and only if the set \(\alpha P_c\cap \mathbb{Z}^n_{>0}\) is non-empty, where \(P_c\) is the union of compact faces of the \(P\). Moreover, the author showed that the inner jump multiplicity of an inner jumping number \(\alpha\) (\(<1\)) equals the cardinality of the set \(\alpha P_c\cap \mathbb{Z}^n_{>0}\). The author gave an elementary proof and provided several examples to demonstrate the result.
