The authors continue the work of \textit{H. A. Kenary} [Acta Univ. Apulensis, Math. Inform. 27, 173--186 (2011; Zbl 1265.39054)] and make a study of the generalized Hyers-Ulam stability of a functional equation of additive type. The method is a fixed point method. Reviewer's opinion: A more clear presentation of the paper is one deletes Lemma 3.1 and then replaces in theorems and corollaries the words ``additive mapping'' with ``solution of the equation (1)''.
