The authors extend the definition of \(w\)-distance from [\textit{O. Kada}, Math. Jap. 44, No. 2, 381--391 (1996; Zbl 0897.54029)] to tvs-valued cone metric spaces in the sense of \textit{I. Beg} et al. [Int. J. Math. Math. Sci. 2009, Article ID 560264, 8 p. (2009; Zbl 1187.54032)] in the following way. Let \((X,d)\) be a tvs-cone metric space over a cone \(P\) in a Banach space \(E\). A function \(p:X\times X\to P\) is called a \(w\)-cone distance on \(X\) if: \((w_1)\)~\(p(x,z)\preceq p(x,y)+p(y,z)\) for all \(x,y,z\in X\); \((w_2)\)~for any \(x\in X\), \(p(x,\cdot):X\to P\) is lower semicontinuous; \((w_3)\)~for any \(\varepsilon\in E\) with \(\theta\ll\varepsilon\), there is \(\delta\in E\) with \(\theta\ll\delta\), such that \(p(x,z)\ll\delta\) and \(p(z,y)\ll\delta\) imply \(d(x,y)\ll\varepsilon\). They prove the following result: Theorem. Let \((X,d)\) be a complete tvs-cone metric space with a \(w\)-cone distance~\(p\). Suppose that for some \(0\leq k<1\) a mapping \(T:X\to X\) satisfies the condition \(p(Tx,T^2x)\preceq kp(x,Tx)\) for each \(x\in X\). Assume that either of the following holds: (i)~If \(y\neq Ty\), there exists \(c\in E\), \(\theta\ll c\), such that \(c\ll p(x,y)+p(x,Tx)\) for each \(x\in X\); (ii)~\(T\) is continuous. Then there exists \(z\in X\) such that \(z=Tz\) and \(p(T^nx,z)\preceq\frac{k^n}{1-k}p(x,Tx)\) for \(n\geq1\). Moreover, if \(v=Tv\) for some \(v\in X\), then \(p(v,v)=\theta\). As a consequence, a result about the so-called \(P\)-property is obtained. Reviewer's remark. The question given at the end of this paper, concerning quasicontractions under \(w\)-cone distance, was recently answered in [\textit{Z. Kadelburg} and \textit{S. Radenović}, ``Coupled fixed point results under tvs-cone metric and w-cone-distance'', Adv. Fixed Point Theory 2, No. 1, 29--46 (2012), \url{http://scik.org/index.php/afpt/article/view/128}].
