The author investigates convolutional and asymptotic properties of the generalized gcd sum function \[ A_r(n)=\frac{1}{n^r}\sum_{k_1,\ldots, k_r=1}^{n} \gcd(k_1\cdots k_r, n). \] This function was considered by \textit{N. Kurokawa} and \textit{H. Ochiai} [J. Number Theory 129, No. 8, 1919--1930 (2009; Zbl 1176.11065)] in connection with the multivariable global Igusa zeta function for a finite cyclic group. The present author also shows that \[ \sum_{k_1,\ldots, k_r=1\atop \gcd(k_1\cdots k_r, n)=1}^{n} \gcd(k_1\cdots k_r-1, n)=\varphi^r(n)\tau(n), \] which is a generalization of \textit{P. Kesava Menon}'s identity [J. Indian Math. Soc., New Ser. 29, 155--163 (1965; Zbl 0144.27706)].
