In a previous paper, Goldin and Tolman investigated natural generalizations of equivariant Schubert classes, corresponding to fixed points, for Hamiltonian torus action on a compact symplectic manifold \(M\) with isolated fixed points. More precisely, for a generic component of the moment map, which is a Morse function, they defined a canonical class in the equivariant cohomology of \(M\) for each fixed point \(p \in M\). In the case canonical classes exist they form a natural basis of the equivariant cohomology of \(M\) and when \(M\) is a flag variety they are equivariant Schubert classes. The computation of restrictions of the canonical classes to the fixed points determines the structure constants associated to the natural basis. It is an open problem to find positive integral formulas for these constants. In this paper, new techniques for computing the restriction of a canonical class \({\alpha}_p\) to a fixed point \(q\) are introduced. These formulas are simple as they count the contributions over few paths. In certain special cases formulas are positive and integral. After a review of properties of canonical classes the authors restrict the attention to the important special case of GKM spaces where it is easy to calculate canonical classes. Then, the main theorem is proved and applications are described. The main goal is to get positive integral formulas for equivariant Schubert classes on generic coadjoint orbits of type \(A_n\), \(B_n\), \(C_n\) and \(D_n\).
