    Let \(p\geq 3\) be a prime, and let \(\chi\) be a non-principal character modulo \(p\). Define \[ L(p)=\left\{1\leq a\leq p: (a,p)=1, |a-\overline{a}|\leq H\right\}, \] where \(\overline{a}\) is the multiplicative inverse of \(a\) modulo \(p\) satisfying \(a\overline{a}\equiv 1 \pmod p\) and \(1\leq \overline{a}\leq p-1\), \(H\) is any fixed integer with \(3\leq H\leq p\). The authors prove that \[ \mathop{\sum_{n\leq N}}_{n\in L(p)}\chi(n)\ll p^{\frac{1}{2}+\varepsilon}, \] where \(\varepsilon\) is any positive real number.
