Recently \textit{P. Beben} and \textit{J. Wu} [Math. Z. 273, No. 3--4, 735--751 (2013; Zbl 1270.55007)] gave examples of spaces such that, for a fixed odd prime \(p\) and some \(p\)-local CW complex \(X\) of finite type there exists a sequence \(\{l_n\}\) of increasing positive integers satisfying the condition that \(\Omega\Sigma^{l_n}X\) is a homotopy retract of \(\Omega X\). In this paper, the authors consider the corresponding problem for \(p=2\). First, for each integer \(n\geq 1\) they consider the connected \(2\)-local CW complexes \(X_i\) (\(1\leq i\leq n\)) such that the group \(\tilde{H}_*(X_i,\mathbb Z/2)\) is of dimension \(2\) with generators \(u_i\), \(v_i\) with \(| u_i| <| v_i|\), and they show that the space \(\Omega\Sigma \wedge\bigwedge_{i=1}^n(\Sigma^{(3^k-1)/2(| u_i| +| v_i| )} X_i)\) is a homotopy retract of \(\Omega\Sigma\wedge \bigwedge_{i=1}^nX_i\) for every \(k\geq 1\). Moreover, they also consider a simply connected \(2\)-local CW complex \(X\) such that \(\tilde{H}_*(X,\mathbb Z/2)\) is of dimension \(2\) with generators \(u\), \(v\) with \(| u| <| v|\), and they prove that there is a homotopy equivalence \(\Omega\Sigma X\simeq \prod_j \Omega\Sigma^{1+k_j(| u| +| v| )}X\times \text{(some space)}\) if \(2<k_1<k_2<\cdots\) are all prime numbers. By using this, they also prove the conjecture given in [\textit{F. R. Cohen} and \textit{J. Wu}, Contemp. Math. 181, 65--81 (1995; Zbl 0841.55007)] in the affirmative. They prove the above two results by using Dynkin-Specht-Wever elements and the result of \textit{P. Selick} and \textit{J. Wu} [Math. Z. 253, No. 3, 435--451 (2006; Zbl 1107.55005)].
