For \(n\) odd, \textit{N. Geer} and \textit{B. Patureau-Mirand} [Algebr. Geom. Topol. 11, No. 3, 1821--1860 (2011; Zbl 1232.57015)] and \textit{N. Geer, B. Patureau-Mirand} and \textit{V. Turaev} [Adv. Math. 228, No. 2, 1163--1202 (2011; Zbl 1237.57011)] constructed quantum \(6j\) symbols related to the non-integral highest weight representations of \(\mathcal{U}_{\xi_n}(\mathrm{sl}_2)\), where \(\xi_n\) denotes the primitive \(2n\)th root of unity \(\exp\frac{\pi \sqrt{-1}}{n}\). The paper under review extends the above construction to all \(n\in\mathbb{N}\), calling the resulting \(6j\) symbols ``\textit{\(\mathrm{SL}(2,\mathbb{C})\) quantum \(6j\) symbols}''. These \(6j\) symbols are used to construct a face model for an extension of the coloured Alexander invariant to an invariant of graphs, which is essentially the same as the invariant constructed by \textit{N. Geer} and \textit{N. Reshetikhin} [Lett. Math. Phys. 88, No. 1--3, 321--331 (2009; Zbl 1194.17004)]. This face model extends \textit{O. Ya. Viro}'s face models for the Conway function and for the Alexander polynomial [St. Petersbg. Math. J. 18, No. 3, 391--457 (2007); translation from Algebra Anal. 18, No. 3, 63--157 (2006; Zbl 1149.57024)]. Furthermore, Theorem 3.2 proves a relationship between the resulting \(6j\) symbols and the hyperbolic volume of a truncated tetrahedron, extending a classical \(6j\) symbol formula for the volume of a hyperbolic tetrahedron.
