    For a dyadic ``time-interval'' \(I \subset \mathbb R^+\) and a dyadic ``frequency interval'' \(\omega \subset \mathbb R^+\), we say that the rectangle \(I \times \omega\) is a tile (or bitile) if \(|I \times \omega|=1\) (or \(|I \times \omega|=2\)). Each bitile \(P\) contains four tiles which are the upper half \(P_u\), lower half \(P_l\), left half, and right half. For a rectangle \(P= I \times \omega\), let \(I_P\) denote \(I\) and \(\omega_P\) denote \(\omega\). Given a real-valued function \(f\) on \(\mathbb R^+\) and \(\xi, x\in \mathbb R^+\), define the truncated Walsh-sum operator by \[ S_k[f](\xi, x)= \sum_{\{\text{bitiles}\, P:\, |I_P|< 2^k\}} \langle f, \phi_{P_l} \rangle \phi_{P_l}(x) 1_{\omega_{P_u}}(\xi), \] where \( \phi_{P_l}\) is the \(L^2\) normalized wave-packet corresponding to the lower half of \(P\). For a function \(m\) on \( \mathbb R^+\) and an exponent \(1\leq q \leq \infty\), define the Walsh \(L^q\)-multiplier norm of \(m\) by \[ \|m\|_{M^q}= \sup_{g: \|g\|_{L^q} =1} \|(m \hat g)\,\check{}\, \|_{L^q}. \] Replacing \(m\) by a sequence of functions \(\{m_k\}_{k\in \mathbb Z}\), one can also define a Walsh \(L^q\)-maximal-multiplier norm by \[ \|m\|_{M^{q,\ast}}= \sup_{g: \|g\|_{L^q} =1} \|(m_k \hat g)\,\check{}\,(x) \|_{L^q_x(\ell^\infty_k)}. \] The Walsh-\(M^{2,\ast}\)-Carleson theorem was proven by \textit{C. Demeter} et al. [Rev. Mat. Iberoam. 24, No. 3, 721--744 (2008; Zbl 1158.42011)]. Specifically, they showed that if \(1 < p < \infty\) then \[ \|S_k[f](\xi, x)\|_{L^p_x(M^{2,\ast}_{\xi,k})} \leq C_p \|f\|_{L^p}. \] The main result of the current paper is to extend the above Demeter-Lacey-Tao-Thiele's result to cover exponents \(1<q < 2\). That is, suppose that \(1 < p < \infty\) and \(1<q < 2\) satisfy \(\frac1p+ \frac 1q < \frac 32\). Then \[ \|S_k[f](\xi, x)\|_{L^p_x(M^{q,\ast}_{\xi,k})} \leq C_{p,q} \|f\|_{L^p}. \]
