In this paper the authors study a quantum toroidal algebra \(\mathcal{E}_n\) associated to \(\mathfrak{gl}_n\). The authors start from the vector representation of \(\mathcal{E}_n\) and use the semi-infinite wedge construction to construct a family of Fock \(\mathcal{E}_n\)-modules. These modules have a basis labeled by certain colored partitions. Next, using the semi-infinite wedge construction with Fock module, the authors construct a family of \(\mathcal{E}_n\)-module which have a basis labeled by colored plane partitions with certain asymptotic boundary conditions along the axes (the authors call the latter modules the \textit{MacMahon} modules). Using tensor product of MacMahon modules and specializing their levels, the authors construct a large family of irreducible quasi-finite \(\mathcal{E}_n\)-modules with bases labeled by tuples of plane partitions with various boundary conditions. Restricting some of these modules to \(U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{gl}}_n)\), the authors obtain a class of simple modules over the latter algebra and show that all simple highest weight \(U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{gl}}_n)\)-modules which admit a BGG-resolution appear as restrictions of the \(\mathcal{E}_n\)-modules mentioned above.
