Starting from a three-dimensional model of ferromagnetic materials at a fixed temperature [\textit{W. F. Brown}, Micromagnetics. New York: Wiley (1963)], the author studies a cylindrical specimen where the diameter of its base tends to zero. For such a family of problems, solutions to Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equations are investigated for applied magnetic fields which are constant in the cross-section of the wire. Besides the applied magnetic field, problems with applied electric currents are also considered. The main topic of the paper is the motion of domain walls between magnetic domains (i.e. regions of almost constant magnetizations). There are two different regimes. The first one is an infinitely long wire where the author describes a profile of a one wall including a controllability result on a wall position. The control variable is an external field. If we consider a finite length of the wire, i.e. the second regime, the one-wall solutions are unstable under the zero external field because by ``pushing'' the wall outside a wire can decrease the total magnetic energy. The author, however, shows that a suitable external field can stabilize these one-wall solutions. Additionally to the new results just described, this paper also carefully reviews existing related literature.
