The authors consider the problem of which properties of an Ore ring \(R\) pass or not pass to its classical ring of quotients. They show, by constructing counter-examples, that the answer is negative for many natural ring properties. In particular, they prove that the following properties do not pass to the classical ring of quotients: Abelian, Dedekind finite, semicommutative, \(2\)-primal, and NI. Some important construction techniques are also introduced. The paper closes by listing some interesting open questions on the subject.
