    A complex projective structure on a surface is a geometric structure whose holonomy representation is from the fundamental group of a surface into \({\text{ PSL}}(2, \mathbb{C})\). There is an operation, called \(2\pi\)-grafting, which produces projective structures with the same holonomy representation. This paper investigates \(2\pi\)-graftings of complex projective structures on surfaces whose holonomy representations are of Schottky type. In particular, the author realizes a certain Dehn twist of such a projective structure as a composition of grafting and an inverse-grafting. To prove this, he analyzes graftings of a projective structure on a torus (namely, a Hopf torus), and adapts the result to projective structures of higher genus with Schottky holonomy. There is a question of Gallo, Kapovich, and Marden [\textit{D. Gallo} et al., Ann. Math. (2) 151, No. 2, 625--704 (2000; Zbl 0977.30028)] that asks if any two projective structures with the same holonomy are related by a composition of graftings and inverse-graftings. By the result of the paper under review and \textit{S. Baba} [Geom. Funct. Anal. 22, No. 2, 267--310 (2012; Zbl 1253.57008)], the answer to the question is affirmative in the case of Schottky holonomy.
