    In the present paper, the author studies \(2\)-local \(\ast\)-automorphisms and \(2\)-local Jordan \(\ast\)-derivations on certain algebras with involution. Recall that \(2\)-local automorphisms and \(2\)-local derivations were introduced in [\textit{P. Šemrl}, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 125, No. 9, 2677--2680 (1997; Zbl 0887.47030)]. Let \(\mathcal A\) be an algebra with involution \(\ast\). A mapping \(\phi: \mathcal A \to \mathcal A\) is said to be a \(2\)-local \(\ast\)-automorphism (resp., \(2\)-local Jordan \(\ast\)-derivation) if, for every \(a,b \in \mathcal A\), there exists a \(\ast\)-automorphism (resp., Jordan \(\ast\)-derivation) \(\phi_{a,b}: \mathcal A \to \mathcal A\) such that \(\phi (a)= \phi_{a,b} (a)\) and \( \phi (b)= \phi_{a,b}(b)\). Among other results, the author shows that, if \( H\) is a Hilbert space and \(\mathcal B(H)\) is the algebra of all bounded linear operators on \(H\), then every \(2\)-local \(\ast\)-automomorphism on \(\mathcal B (H)\) is a \(\ast\)-automorphism. As pointed out by the author, in the finite dimensional case, another proof was given by \textit{S. O. Kim} and \textit{J. S. Kim} in [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 132, No. 5, 1389--1392 (2004; Zbl 1051.47031)].
