Artin's conjecture states that the rank of the Néron-Severi group of a supersingular \(K3\) surface over a finite field has the maximal possible value, that is, 22. In the present paper, the author proves Artin's conjecture over any field \(k\) of characteristic \(p\geq 5\). This implies Tate's conjecture for \(K3\) surfaces over \(k\). In his proof, a major role is played by the construction of a Kuga-Satake mapping over the deformation space of the original variety. As an application of his method, he shows that an arbitrary smooth cubic fourfold over \(k\) satisfies the Tate conjecture for cycles of codimension two.
