Let \(p_i\) be the \(i\)-th prime number (\(i=1,2,\dots\)), \(\widehat{\mathbb Z}=\prod_{i=1}^\infty \mathbb Z_{p_i}\) be the ring of finite integral adeles with the normalized Haar measure \(\lambda\). The indicator function of the set of \(k\)-th power free integers is extended to a random variable \(X^{(k)}(\cdot )\) on \((\widehat{\mathbb Z},\lambda )\). It was proved in the first part by the first named author [Osaka J. Math. 48, No. 4, 1027--1045 (2011; Zbl 1246.11160)] that \[ \lim_{N\to \infty}(1/N)\sum_{n=1}^N X^{(k)}(x+n)=\frac1{\zeta (k)}. \] Denote \[ Y^{(k)}_N(x)=\frac1{N^{1/2k}}\sum_{n=1}^N \left( X^{(k)}(x+n)-\frac1{\zeta (k)}\right). \] The authors prove the convergence of \(\mathbf E^\lambda [(Y^{(k)}_N)^2]\), as \(N\to \infty\), and find the limit.
