The dynamics of a piecewise isometry \(T\) with rotations by \(2\pi i/5\) on a certain lozenge is studied. Using the fact that it has a self-inducing structure, it was shown in [\textit{S. Akiyama} et al., Tsukuba J. Math. 32, No. 1, 197--251 (2008; Zbl 1209.37018)] that almost all points, in particular all points in \(\mathbb{Z}[\zeta]\), lie in pentagons with periodic orbits. The authors are interested in the dynamics of the aperiodic points. They are contained in the attractor of an iterated function system and are recognized by a Büchi automaton. The restriction of \(T\) to this attractor preserves the self-similar measure given by the IFS and is isomorphic to the 2-adic odometer. The orbit of each aperiodic point is uniformly distributed with respect to this measure. Moreover, the corresponding symbolic dynamical system is an \(S\)-adic shift given by a set of 4 substitutions. Points with purely periodic multiplicative coding are characterized with the help of a natural extension. Generalizations to other self-similar systems, in particular to a rotation by \(4\pi/7\), and the role of Pisot numbers as scaling constants are discussed.
