The paper is a brief survey of well-posedness and ill-posedness results for flows dominated by rotational effects.NEWLINENEWLINEThe fluid occupies a domain \(\Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^3\), possibly \(\Omega=\mathbb R^3\), and the flow is described by the equationsNEWLINENEWLINENEWLINE\[NEWLINE\begin{cases} \frac{\partial u}{\partial t}-\Delta u+(u\cdot \nabla)u+ \omega\,e_3\times u+\nabla p =0,\quad & x\in\Omega,\;t>0,\\ \text{div } u =0,\quad & x\in\Omega,\;t>0, \\ u =0,\quad & x\in\partial\Omega,\;t>0, \\ u(x,0) =u_0,\quad & x\in\Omega.\end{cases} NEWLINE\]NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEHere \(u\) is the velocity of a fluid, \(p\) is the pressure, \(\omega\) is the given speed of rotation, \(e_3\) is the unit vector in \(x_3\)-direction.NEWLINENEWLINEThe authors state results on the existence of global solutions to the problem in Fourier-Besov spaces for small initial data \(u_0\). Some ill-posedness results are formulated too. These results are based on the semigroup theory for Stokes and Stokes-Coriolis operators. This article only formulates and discusses results of 2005--2011. There are no new results and proofs.
