The topic of this paper under review belongs to the additive theory of noncommutative rings. Let \(R\) be a prime ring with extended centroid \(C\). In the present paper, the authors mainly consider the question of when the composition of a generalized derivation \(\delta\) and a polynomial mapping \(f(Y)\in C[Y]\) of \(R\) is commutative on a non-zero right ideal \(\rho\) and a non-commutative Lie ideal \(L\) of \(R\), respectively, i.e., when the polynomial identity \(\delta\circ f(x)=f\circ\delta(x)\) holds on \(\rho\) or \(L\). Those main results obtained are used to describe the forms of the generalized derivations which act as \(n\)-Jordan homomorphisms (\(S_n\)-homomorphisms) on \(\rho\) or \(L\). This paper is well organized and its expository style is clear.
