There is a long history in dealing with invariant maximal non-positive/non-negative subspaces in Krein spaces dating back to 1943/44 when the first results were obtained by L. S.\ Pontryagin and L. S.\ Sobolev. Here, non-positive (non-negative) subspace is understood with respect to the (indefinite) inner product in a Krein space. In the present article, the existence of a non-positive invariant subspace for a bounded operator \(T\) in a Krein space \((\mathcal K, [\cdot,\cdot])\) is proven under the following assumptions: {\parindent=0.6cm\begin{itemize}\item[(1)] There exists a circle \(\Gamma\) around zero which separates the spectrum of \(T\) (and therefore, invariant subspaces for the operator \(T\) exist by assumption). \item[(2)] The operator \(T\) is absolutely \(p\)-summing for some \(1\leq p<\infty\). \item[(3)] For all \(z\in \Gamma\), the operator \((T-z)^{-1}\) satisfies, for all \(x\in \mathcal K\), \[ |z|^2[(T-z)^{-1}x,(T-z)^{-1}x] \geq [x,x]. \] \item[(4)] There exists \(\alpha <0\) such that, for all \(z\in \Gamma\) and \(x\in \mathcal K\), \[ [(T-z)^{-1}x,(T-z)^{-1}x] \leq z [(T-z)^{-1}x,\alpha x] + \overline{z} [\alpha x,(T-z)^{-1}x]. \] \end{itemize}}
